Deion Sanders has expressed his hope for his son, Shilo, to find a place on an NFL team after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to let him go ahead of the roster cut deadline on Tuesday.
Shilo joined the Buccaneers in the spring as an undrafted free agent. He had been performing well during training camp, showing promise for a spot on the team. However, after being ejected from a game against the Buffalo Bills for throwing a punch, the Buccaneers chose to release him.
On Tuesday, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes shared his thoughts on Shilo’s situation. “He is my son, and I’m proud of all my children,” he said, noting that he’s prepared for many possibilities in their lives and careers. “It’s part of being a parent and maintaining a relationship,” he continued.
Deion emphasized that Shilo is mentally and physically ready for what’s next, suggesting that he hopes for another opportunity with a different team. If that doesn’t happen, though, he believes Shilo has a plan moving forward.
Deion also expressed confidence in Shilo’s abilities, mentioning that he is a talented individual. “All Sanders will be fine, with or without football,” he remarked, conveying a sense of assurance that he will be taken care of.
Interestingly, there remains a possibility that Shilo could still find a place on the Buccaneers’ practice squad or with another team. Time will tell what happens next.
