Life Update from Christian Apologizer Wesley Huff
Wesley Huff, a Christian apologist, recently opened up about how hectic his life has become this year, especially after his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast in January. Serving as the director of the Canadian Apology in Central Canada, he shared some personal highlights from the past year in a video posted to his YouTube channel on Monday. “It was more than I could have imagined,” Huff reflected, mentioning that, while things have felt overwhelming at times, he strongly believes in God’s sovereignty throughout it all.
On the “wild timing” of his experiences, he remarked, “I couldn’t have planned this…even if I wanted to. It was clearly all God’s doing.” Before appearing on the podcast, he mentioned being inundated with numerous emails ranging from encouragement to criticism, all of which he and his assistant struggled to keep up with.
Two weeks before the podcast, a worrying situation arose when Huff’s wife feared she might experience a miscarriage with their fourth child. During that time, she was placed on modified bed rest while managing life with their three small children.
In the midst of these challenges, the family had just moved from a two-bedroom condo to a house—one where Huff found little chance to meet people in person. Shortly after relocating, he embarked on a trip abroad to film a series called “Can You Trust the Bible?”
Huff also recounted a terrifying medical emergency involving one of his children in March, which left many questions lingering. Despite the struggles, he found gratitude in the support from their church community during such a tumultuous time.
Last week, his daughter faced a different medical emergency, requiring hospitalization and further testing, which only added more stress and uncertainty to their lives. While the diagnosis remains unclear, he expressed appreciation for the continued support from others. “God is in control, and none of this is outside of His clear direction and plan,” he stated.
In his Life Update video, Huff discussed how this busy period has impacted his academic journey as he works towards earning his doctorate in New Testament studies at Wycliffe College (University of Toronto). He also mentioned an upcoming role as Vice President of Canada, describing it as an exciting opportunity to further his work.
Through everything this year, Huff maintained a sense of gratitude. He noted, “I’ve talked to thousands of people and completed a ‘dream project’ for work, all while holding my wife’s hand in a hospital room, fearing for my daughter’s well-being.”
“My life outside the internet is as full as it can probably get,” he reflected. “But through it all, God is good.”
