Father Allegedly Confesses to Killing Infant Son
Recent reports indicate that Jake Haro, the father of missing seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro, has purportedly confessed to murdering his son and disposing of the body in a trash can.
Investigators reportedly employed an undercover inmate to elicit this admission from Jake Haro, as detailed by a report from NewsNation’s Brian Entin.
Riverside County District Attorney Michael Hestrin explained that authorities have evidence suggesting the child endured prolonged physical abuse at the hands of both Jake and his wife, Rebecca Haro.
“We believe baby Emmanuel was subject to abuse over time, and because of that abuse, he succumbed to his injuries,” Hestrin stated during a press conference.
“We have significant leads on the location of baby Emmanuel’s remains,” he added.
Jake and Rebecca were apprehended last week by homicide detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at their residence in Cabazon, positioned near the San Bernardino County line.
Initially, Rebecca claimed that her son had been kidnapped outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on August 14th, stating she was “assaulted and knocked unconscious” by an unknown individual. When she regained consciousness, Emmanuel was reportedly missing.
However, authorities noted various inconsistencies in her narrative, leading to suspicions of foul play, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the Sheriff’s Department reported. “At this time, investigators cannot dismiss foul play regarding Emmanuel’s disappearance.”
In interviews last week, both parents pleaded for the safe return of their child. Nonetheless, many observers suggested that these appeals appeared “performative,” seemingly aimed at evoking public sympathy and projecting innocence.
“If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops,” Rebecca pleaded, showing a noticeable black eye during an interview with KTLA. “Please come and bring my son back. I’m begging you.”
Despite these pleas, the couple has since been arrested and charged with murder.
Brian Entin’s sources revealed that Jake Haro revised his story while in jail, claiming he accidentally suffocated Emmanuel while rolling over in his sleep and then buried the body near a freeway.
Both suspects are currently held in a Riverside County jail without the possibility of bail. The release from the sheriff’s office noted that no additional arrests have been made nor are there any further suspects.
Jake Haro has a troubled legal history. In 2023, he served six months for willful child cruelty, involving Emmanuel’s older half-sister. Reports indicate that she suffered broken bones when she was only ten weeks old.
Hestrin commented, “If that judge had done his job… Emmanuel would be alive today,” referring to the previous legal proceedings against Jake Haro.
