Carly Pearce Reflects on Her Marriage to Michael Ray

Carly Pearce recently shared her insights on her marriage to ex-husband Michael Ray, admitting that maybe it was a hasty decision. In a conversation on the Bunny XO podcast, she revealed that their relationship was driven more by desire than genuine love.

“I thought he was really attractive,” Pearce recalled, discussing their brief marriage. “I was told he was such a nice person. I even invited him to my party celebrating my Billboard Country Airplay No. 1 for ‘Every Little Thing.’ But looking back, it felt more like attraction than actual love.”

Despite marrying Ray for what she thought were the right reasons, she recognized that they hadn’t truly connected. “I was waiting for the right time to marry, thinking I’d do everything correctly. But we never had those deep conversations; we just didn’t know each other,” she said.

Reflecting on the day she realized marriage wasn’t right for her, Pearce expressed that what happened next, in a way, allowed her to grow. “I think the best thing was having that community support because it helped me process everything privately,” she explained. “At first, I felt embarrassed about it.”

The couple’s marriage lasted merely eight months, with Pearce filing for divorce in 2020. “I quickly knew it wasn’t what I deserved. It wasn’t what I had signed up for,” she remarked. “We rushed into things, and it wasn’t clear at all.”

Touching on rumors of infidelity during their marriage, Pearce stated, “People have their theories, and it was challenging for me in the beginning to address them. But I have my truth, and so do my friends and family. That’s what matters.”

Looking ahead, she expressed a sense of happiness post-divorce, saying, “This is the happiest season of my life right now. I’ve learned so much about myself and my worth through this process.” Pearce concluded, “I’ve realized how much I truly value myself, which is something I can carry forward.”
