Shaq Mason accused of attacking the mother of his child

NFL Player Arrested on Assault Charges

NFL offensive lineman Shaq Mason was taken into custody Wednesday due to allegations of assault and battery involving the mother of his child.

The 31-year-old free agent reportedly broke into the woman’s residence in Franklin, Tennessee, around 3:11 AM, where he choked her and allegedly threatened to kill her, as stated by police. Authorities also indicated that he sent a selfie to her with a chilling message: “I’ll kill you.” Furthermore, they observed a “fresh tear” on her lower lip, according to reports.

Mason was apprehended later in a traffic stop, and his bond was set at $150,000. Charges against him include one count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated robbery, and one count of harassment, along with another for driving with a suspended license.

In response to these allegations, Fox News Digital has sought comments from Mason’s representatives.

Mason, drafted in the fourth round in 2015, enjoyed a seven-season stint with the New England Patriots, where he secured two Super Bowl championships. He spent the previous season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reuniting with Tom Brady, before finishing his time with the Texans. Despite starting 15 games last year, he allowed a league-high eight sacks, which may have contributed to his release from Houston earlier this March. Throughout his NFL career, Mason has earned more than $45 million.

Originally hailing from Tennessee, he attended high school there before playing college football at Georgia Tech. Franklin is located approximately 30 miles from his hometown of Columbia.
