Mika Parsons Joins the Green Bay Packers
Mika Parsons is now officially a part of the Green Bay Packers, a move that’s certainly catching attention across the NFL, especially with Dallas Cowboys fans. Parsons’ contract issues with the Cowboys led to demands for a trade, which owner Jerry Jones eventually met. This deal sent him to the Packers along with future first-round picks for 2026 and 2027 and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
The Packers have reportedly given Parsons a staggering four-year contract extension worth $188 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.
Unsurprisingly, Cowboys players were taken aback by the news. Wide receiver Ceedee Lamb expressed his feelings with crying emojis on Instagram following the announcement. Furthermore, cornerback Trevon Diggs shared a broken heart emoji on X as he reflected on the situation, but he also congratulated Parsons on his new chapter, despite now being opponents.
“The best in the world!” Diggs tweeted, celebrating Parsons’ new deal.
Safety Junie Thomas simply reacted with a resigned “Damn…” and a gif expressing his sentiments, while receiver Kavontae Turpin added a light-hearted take on the league’s unpredictability.
Before the deal was finalized, Parsons confirmed the trade and posted a heartfelt video thanking his supporters. He also stated he never wanted to leave Dallas, emphasizing, “It wasn’t all in my control. My heart has always been here.” Parsons explained he didn’t make demands but simply sought fair negotiation.
Earlier this month, Parsons had requested a trade, yet contract negotiations appeared to stall. Although he initially wanted to stay in Dallas, many fans speculated that his request was merely a negotiation tactic. In a surprising twist, Jerry Jones moved forward with the signing, contrary to his previous claims of not considering a deal for Parsons.
Reflecting on his journey, Parsons, who grew up as a Cowboys fan in Pennsylvania, expressed gratitude for the support he received over the past four years. “From the moment I arrived in Dallas, you embraced me and my family as yours,” he shared, acknowledging the pride he felt in representing Dallas.
Ultimately, Parsons stated that North Texas would remain his home during the offseason, affirming his connection to the community that supported him during his time in Dallas.
