Trump Administration’s Expansion of Deportation Efforts
President Donald Trump and his team are ramping up what is being described as the most extensive deportation campaign this country has ever seen.
Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security has plans to operate from Chicago, according to reports.
“On our first day in Chicago, we took nine child predators off the streets,” a senior official from DHS stated, affirming Trump’s commitment to restoring safety to American cities. The official elaborated that the DHS is focusing on apprehending the most dangerous individuals, including gang members and violent offenders, to enhance community safety.
Documents indicate that DHS is awaiting approval from Defense Secretary Pete Hegses for utilizing a naval base in Chicago to support logistics for a 30-day operation in the area. This request includes provisions for 250 officials, a tactical operations center, space for medical supplies, and equipment such as rubber bullets and tear gas.
“The operations here mirror what unfolded in Los Angeles earlier this summer with the same DHS team,” noted Navy CPT. Stephen Yargosz in a message to his leadership team. He mentioned there may also be additional support for a National Guard unit, though details remain scant.
Since the beginning of Trump’s second term, nearly 1,400 arrests by immigration and customs enforcement agents have occurred in Illinois alone.
The administration has frequently issued warnings to sanctuary city leaders, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, about focusing enforcement actions in areas that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
Border official Tom Homan recalled how he was in Chicago shortly after Trump’s election despite being told he wasn’t welcome by Mayor Johnson. He emphasized that the administration’s mission is to make Chicago a safer place again.
Neither Johnson’s nor Pritzker’s offices provided immediate comments on these developments.
