Mika Parsons Takes on Historic Number with Packers

Mika Parsons is set to wear the iconic number one for the Green Bay Packers as he embarks on a new chapter with the team. During his introductory press conference on Friday, he made the announcement, visibly excited about the historic significance of the number.

“Yeah, number one,” Parsons stated confidently. “I’ll go first.”

This number hasn’t been donned since Carly Rambaugh, who was a key figure in the team’s early history. Rambaugh co-founded the Packers with George Calhoun back in 1919 and played a dual role as both player and coach from 1920 to 1929, retiring after a notable career.

After hanging up his cleats, Rambaugh continued coaching the Packers until 1949, during which he led the team to six NFL championships. His legacy is deeply intertwined with the franchise, making the number all the more special.

Interestingly, Rambaugh’s last appearance in number one was in 1926, meaning Parsons will be the first player to wear it in nearly a century.

Previously, Parsons wore number 11 while playing for the Cowboys, but with Jaden Reed currently holding that number in Green Bay, he posed an interesting question to fans on social media: Should the Packers embrace zero or stick with one?

While discussing his transition from Dallas, he shared some insights on his departure. “I hope things don’t have to be like this,” he remarked, expressing a mix of gratitude for his new opportunity and concerns about unresolved contract matters with the Cowboys.

“Every opportunity is a great opportunity, and that’s how I see it,” he noted. “If the opportunity disappeared, I didn’t want to be in that position. It’s not just about supporting my family; it’s about brotherhood.”
