Alaska Woman Attacked by Bear During Morning Jog
State officials confirmed that an Alaskan woman was attacked by a bear as she left for her early morning jog. The incident involved Alyne Fabrizio Colton, a 36-year-old mother of three, who sustained serious injuries and will need extensive surgery followed by a lengthy hospital stay.
“She hardly made it 50 yards from her home,” reported Alaskan wildlife trooper David Rowling. He mentioned that the bear came from a nearby property, attacked her, and then dragged her about 100 yards to another man’s land.
One of Colton’s neighbors remarked that he heard strange sounds early in the morning, initially thinking it might be a dog or something else. It wasn’t until he heard more noises that he went out and discovered Colton in the woods.
Colton’s family, who recently moved to Alaska over the summer, described her as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a nurse who embodies an adventurous spirit and a love for nature. “She’s heartfelt, strong, resilient, and always eager to help others,” they said.
The attack occurred around 5:45 a.m. after Colton had set out for her run. Medivac services transported her to the hospital, quite a distance away—over two hours, as officials stated.
Authorities are currently using drones and foot patrols to search for the bear believed to be involved, but they have not yet located it.
Patrols in the area will continue as investigations proceed.
