Trump Criticizes Democrats Amid Chicago Violence
President Donald Trump is once again targeting Democrats following a violent weekend in Chicago that left six dead and over 20 injured. He has intensified his conflict with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, criticizing his refusal to accept federal assistance.
In a passionate post on True Social, Trump labeled Pritzker as “incompetent” and warned him to “get straight, fast, or we’ll come.” This comment comes on the heels of Trump’s recent executive actions aimed at restoring law and order in Washington, D.C. He mobilized federal police and security forces for the nation’s capital, hinting that Chicago might be next on his radar.
During a recent week, Trump also remarked humorously on Pritzker’s weight loss, suggesting that it might indicate a potential presidential bid for 2028. Trump characterized the recent violence in Chicago as unacceptable, stating, “Six people died and 24 people were shot in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, the weak and pathetic governor of Illinois, insists he doesn’t need help stopping crime. He’s crazy!!! He needs to get it together, or we’re coming!”
Pritzker responded vigorously, denouncing Trump’s methods as “unconstitutional” and a dangerous grab for power. He also brought attention to Trump’s comments about his physique, asserting that weight issues are a necessary discussion in politics.
Republican strategist Mark McKinnon noted that Pritzker’s lighter appearance might suggest he’s gearing up for a political challenge. Political consultant David Kochel suggested that weight loss could signify a transformation in preparation for future campaigns, referencing other candidates like Chris Christie and Mike Pompeo who similarly slimmed down before entering national politics.
On Friday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson countered Trump’s threats by signing an executive order rejecting the idea of federal troops in the city. He stated firmly, “We don’t need unconstitutional and illegal military occupation of our cities,” assuring that Chicago would do everything possible to safeguard democracy and its communities.
This ongoing clash appears to politically benefit both Trump and Pritzker. Trump uses Chicago as a representation of Democratic failure to govern, emphasizing his law-and-order stance, while Pritzker positions himself as a courageous opposition to what he regards as Trump’s bullying tactics.
According to the White House, Chicago has experienced the highest murder rates in the country for 13 consecutive years, fueled by the unfolding political drama between these two figures.
Pritzker’s office has yet to provide a comment on this latest news cycle.
