Rudy Giuliani Injured in New Hampshire Car Accident
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, was seriously hurt in a car accident in New Hampshire, as informed by a spokesperson.
The 81-year-old reportedly was aiding victims of domestic violence during the incident on Saturday night. Following the crash, he was hospitalized due to a fractured vertebra and numerous bruises and injuries to his left arm and legs, according to Michael Lagusa, his spokesman.
“He was called over by a woman who was experiencing domestic violence prior to the accident. He helped her, called for emergency services, and stayed at the scene until the police arrived to ensure everything was safe,” Lagusa explained.
Lagusa added that the accident occurred after Giuliani got back into his vehicle, which was then struck from behind at a high velocity. “Despite everything, the mayor has a great spirit. He’s tough, having survived 9/11,” he mentioned.
He also stated that the crash “was not a targeted attack” and that Giuliani is expected to stay at a local hospital for several days as he recuperates.
Giuliani’s career includes serving as a federal prosecutor in New York during the 1970s and 1980s, where he gained national fame for prosecuting prominent organized crime syndicates, including the Genovese, Gambino, Lucchese, and Bonanno families. He was among the first federal prosecutors to effectively utilize the RICO Act, which allowed for the prosecution of entire criminal entities rather than just individual members.
After two terms as mayor, he ran for president in 2008 and later became a significant adviser during Donald Trump’s first presidential term.
