Travis Kelce hopes the Browns will begin Shedeur Sanders.

Travis Kelsey, the star of the Kansas City Chiefs, has voiced his encouragement for rookie quarterback Chedur Sanders on the “New Heights” podcast.

Kelsey expressed his belief that the Cleveland Browns should start Sanders when they face the Bengals next weekend.

Since the NFL draft in April, Sanders has been a notable topic of discussion. Interestingly, although he was once expected to go in the first round, he ended up being picked in the fifth round, with the Browns selecting him even after previously choosing another quarterback, Dillon Gabriel.

On the podcast, Kelsey urged, “Give fans what they want from the Browns’ perspective. Start Chedur; the world is eager to see him play and succeed.” There’s a buzz around Sanders—people really seem to be rooting for him, and Kelsey can feel that excitement.

For now, Sanders is set to begin as the third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Gabriel, who was drafted in the third round earlier this year. Kelsey admitted that while Flacco might be the more logical choice to start, he still hopes to see Sanders play.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski elaborated on the decision to keep Sanders lower on the depth chart. He noted, “This is a thorough evaluation. Everything I did during the game mattered. I saw how well everyone performed, and I believe Sanders is continually improving.”

In his preseason outing, Sanders threw for 152 yards and recorded two touchdowns, completing 17 out of 29 attempts.
