Kelsey Bateman Passes Away at Age 39
Kelsey Bateman, known for her appearance on the reality show “Rock of Love,” has died at 39. Her passing was described as “unexpected,” though the exact cause remains unknown.
Originally from Utah, Bateman was just 21 when she competed against 22 other women for the attention of Brett Michaels, the lead singer of Poison, during the show’s series. “Rock of Love” aired between 2009-2009 and featured contestants vying to become Michaels’ girlfriend.
Bateman made it into the final nine contestants but was eliminated in the seventh episode of the third season. During her time on the show, she expressed feeling “in vain” when faced with competition from fellow contestants Farrar Sinclair and Ashley Claric. “I slammed my eyes and lay down on the speed bump,” she recounted, showing her readiness for whatever came next, while humorously acknowledging, “I can’t be the only girl who’s drunk and lying on a speed bump.”
Michaels, now 62, reflected on the challenges of life on the road and his inability to start a meaningful relationship. He told her, “I looked around during the concert and you weren’t there anymore,” indicating that his rock lifestyle created barriers for deeper connections.
In a memorable exchange, he remarked on Bateman’s state during the show, saying, “At some point, you were lying on the speed bump saying you couldn’t handle this anymore.” Despite the emotional nature of their exchange, he ultimately decided to eliminate her from the competition, which left her feeling somewhat dejected. “Sometimes, I get drunk and lie down on a speed bump,” she admitted, implying that it seemed like Michaels wanted something different from a partner.
In the end, Michaels chose Taya Parker as his girlfriend during the finale, although that relationship also didn’t last long. Meanwhile, despite Bateman’s brief stint on reality television, not much else is known about her life beyond that moment. For his part, Michaels has been married to Christie Michaels since 2013, with whom he shares two daughters, Rain and Yoruya.
