Jacob Elordi Stirs Up Controversy at Venice Film Festival
Jacob Elordi made quite the scene at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend. The 28-year-old star of “Euphoria” was involved in a heated exchange with festival staff on Saturday.
A video taken by bystanders and shared on TikTok shows Elordi interacting with fans during the world premiere of his latest film, “Frankenstein.” As he engaged with the crowd, he got into a discussion with the festival staff.
“I’m going to take a photo here,” he told the officials, adding, “You shouldn’t tell me what to do,” which sparked debates online.
One TikTok user commented that Elordi was “so lovely” and took photos “as much as possible” during the event. However, the clip, which garnered over 640,000 views, prompted some fans to criticize his conduct.
“It was really rude to the staff,” one viewer remarked. Another echoed this sentiment, stating, “He was just doing his job.” A third follower pointed out, “He’s there for your safety. He’s doing his job,” while a fourth noted, “Honestly, some celebrities can be something else.”
Despite the drama, Elordi’s appearance at the “Frankenstein” premiere was quite formal; he wore a classic black suit paired with a bowtie.
After the film’s screening, he was visibly moved as director Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation received a standing ovation lasting around 13-14 minutes. Elordi shared an emotional embrace with del Toro and co-star Oscar Isaac amid the applause.
In “Frankenstein,” Elordi plays the role of the creature, while Isaac portrays Victor Frankenstein. The film also features actors like Christopher Waltz and Ralph Inneson and will be launching on Netflix following its theatrical release on October 17th.
During a press conference, Elordi opened up about immersing himself in his character, describing it as a vessel for expressing his entire self. “It was a container where I could put every part of myself… the creature is my purest form. He’s me more than me,” he explained.
Elordi also mentioned that he spent around ten hours each day in makeup for his transformation into the creature. “Frankenstein” is set to hit theaters on October 17 before being available on Netflix on November 7.
