Recent updates from the Social Security Administration (SSA) are set to make personal information more accessible to millions of individuals.
In a recent blog post, the SSA announced an expansion of its online services through mysocialsecurity, now available 24/7. One of the key enhancements allows users to request a replacement Social Security card online at any time.
According to the SSA, around 97 million people currently have My Social Security accounts.
What’s changed?
Account holders can now log in at any time to:
- Request a replacement Social Security card online
- Check the status of their claims
- Utilize a retirement calculator
- Access their Social Security Statement and related fact sheets
- View their benefits confirmation
- Access form SSA-1099
This round-the-clock access also extends to existing functionalities, including:
- Viewing benefits and payment details
- Checking voluntary tax withholding information
- Reading messages in the Message Center
- Displaying direct deposit information
- Updating current address information
- Modifying preferred selections
- Updating special notification options
- Using the Upload Document Tool
- Accessing ongoing disability reviews
- Viewing the appointed representative’s recipient selection
With online access, benefit recipients can set up or modify direct deposits, obtain the Social Security 1099 form, print out confirmations of their benefits, and change their address. For those who haven’t started receiving benefits yet, they can access estimated benefits for themselves or their spouse online.
