Best 50 tight ends for fantasy football in Week 1

NFL Season is Approaching

The NFL season is just around the corner! You can almost feel the excitement in the air. Tight end fantasy picks are heating up. This year, both Brock Bowers and Trey McBride stand out with their high targeting, making them strong choices. However, in standard leagues, George Kittle takes precedence because of his explosive plays and increasing touchdowns. If you can snag any of these three players in your standard league, it’s likely a good move. After them, though, the options get a bit tricky. There’s no clear standout, and consistency seems to be a problem for the fantasy position. Let’s dive into what we can expect in the first week.

Otton is nursing a leg injury but managed to practice on Monday. We’ll have to monitor his status this week; if he’s back, he could be a valuable asset.

He probably avoided the PUP list, but he hasn’t been on the practice field since undergoing foot surgery. The expectation is he’ll return by week four, yet starting in week one is unusual. In the meantime, Mark Andrews will likely see more opportunities.

Warren was drafted at the No. 14 spot this past April and is set to make his NFL debut this Sunday as the Colts take on the Dolphins. He has racked up over 1,200 receiving yards in college, earning the McKee Award for 2024. The Colts’ offense this year should provide a solid target for either Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson.

Loveland was the first tight end selected at No. 10 and will hit the field as the Bears go against the Vikings on Monday night. The Chicago offense is expected to look different under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, which will be interesting, especially seeing how the rookie complements veteran tight end Cole Kmet.

The revamped Jets are gearing up for their debut against the Steelers this Sunday. Players from LSU might be crucial for the Jets, especially with new head coach Ahlong Len and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who brings a TE-friendly approach from Detroit.

If tight ends need to be targeted effectively, then the game flow becomes less critical. However, if you want a game plan that suits a solid tight end who isn’t heavily featured, you need a game environment favoring passing. You can look to the odds for some insights. Ideally, a high-scoring matchup featuring a team that’s likely to struggle is the sweet spot.
