Angel Reese Expresses Frustration Over Team’s Performance
Angel Reese, known for her outspoken nature, isn’t happy about the Chicago Sky’s current standings. As the team heads into Wednesday with a 9-30 record, she made it clear that she doesn’t want to repeat this disappointing performance in the coming season. “I’m not settling for the same outcomes we had this year,” Reese stated. “We need to bring in good, no, great players. It’s non-negotiable for me.”
This season has been challenging for the Sky, especially with their coach Tyler Marsh being replaced by Teresa Weatherspoon after finishing last season with a 13-27 record. Reese, who previously expressed her displeasure regarding Weatherspoon’s appointment, had hoped for a turnaround. Sadly, the team’s struggles seem set to continue into the next season.
Reese is determined to play a significant role in attracting new talent to Chicago this offseason. “I want to play with the best,” she emphasized. “But I can help bring the best here. That’s our goal this offseason—we simply can’t settle for what we had this year.”
Recent recruitment efforts haven’t gone well for Chicago. For instance, Courtney Vandersloot, who suffered an ACL injury earlier this season, managed to sign during the last free agency period.
Although Reese is devoted to her team, she is not afraid to voice her opinion on the need for improvement. “If we can’t bring in more talent, I might have to consider my future here,” she mentioned. “I want to stay, truly, but if things don’t change, I might need to do what’s best for me.”
Her concerns also extend to Vandersloot’s contributions moving forward. “We can’t solely rely on Courtney; we need someone younger with championship experience,” she noted. “While she’s a valuable asset, we may need fresh talent who can actively compete for titles.”
Currently, Reese averages double-doubles, with 14.6 points and 12.6 rebounds over 29 games this season. However, some skeptics argue that these stats are merely inflated due to missed shots rather than showcasing her true ability.
