Health Officials Call for Kennedy’s Resignation

Over 1,000 current and former employees of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have come together to sign an open letter urging Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to step down from his position as Secretary of Health.

The letter claims that Kennedy is compromising American health and acting against the U.S. Constitution in his role at HHS. It was addressed to various Senate committees, including the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, the Senate Finance Committee, and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

“We have a duty to uphold the U.S. Constitution and serve the American people. Our oath compels us to speak out when we see violations of the Constitution that jeopardize the safety of Americans,” the letter asserts. “Thus, we express our concern that the actions taken by the President, Congress, and Secretary Kennedy threaten the nation’s health, insisting that he resign.”

The letter calls attention to several allegations against Kennedy, including his supposed involvement in the shooting of CDC Director Dr. Susan Monares, his appointment of individuals opposed to mRNA vaccines, and his stance against the coronavirus vaccine.

“Kennedy has indicated that we will withdraw the FDA’s emergency use authorization for the Covid-19 vaccine without providing necessary data or the reasoning behind such a decision,” the letter continues. “We will challenge the American Academy of Pediatrics to recommend the Covid-19 vaccine for children.”

Andrew Nixon, HHS Communications Director, expressed that the CDC has been “destructive for a long time” and that meaningful reforms and human resources changes are necessary to rebuild trust.

“Since his appointment, [Kennedy] has tried to create a commitment to science that he believes will help HHS tackle chronic disease epidemics and improve the nation’s health,” he said.

Kennedy recently published an Op-Ed in The Wall Street Journal, where he voiced concerns about the CDC eroding “public trust.” He stated that he was appointed by Trump to “restore that trust and re-focus the CDC on its primary mission.”
