Fever Forward Chloe Bibby Out for the Season
Indiana Fever forward Chloe Bibby has unfortunately been sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a left knee injury. This setback makes her the latest player on the team to face serious injury issues. Bibby, who signed a seven-day contract with the Fever in late July, made a noticeable impact during her time in Indiana.
In her nine games with the Fever, Bibby posted an average of 3.9 points in about 9.8 minutes per game, with a shooting percentage of around 39.1%. Before her stint in Indiana, she had shown promise during a brief time with the Golden State Valkyries.
However, she has been dealing with this injury since August 17th, and as of Thursday morning, the Fever made it official that she won’t return this season. In light of this, the team has opted to bring in Brie Hall for the remainder of the season.
At 27 years old, Bibby is the latest addition to a growing list of Fever players ruled out for the year. Recently, Sidney Colson suffered a torn ACL, Ahri MacDonald broke her leg, and Sophie Cunningham is out with a torn MCL. To add to the challenges, star guard Kate Linklark has missed significant time, only appearing in 13 games this season, primarily due to a groin injury that has kept her off the court since mid-July.
Despite these hurdles, the Fever is still in the playoff hunt, holding a slim lead of 1.5 games over the eighth-place team, the Los Angeles Sparks.
Bree Hall Gets Another Chance with Fever
With Bibby’s absence confirmed, the Fever has signed rookie guard Brie Hall to a full-season contract. Hall was the 20th overall pick in the April draft and has faced her own share of ups and downs this season, including being waived twice. She initially signed in May, spent some time in June in the Bay Area, and was later released by the Valkyries.
A standout player at South Carolina, Hall has yet to play in a regular-season game for the Fever but has logged three games with the Valkyries, totaling 12 minutes on the court. She did have a successful outing in an exhibition game against the Brazilian national team on May 4th, where she scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds.
Now at 22, Hall’s shooting ability is expected to bolster Indiana’s guard depth as the team enters the final stretch of the season.
The Fever has three remaining games, including a home match against the Chicago Sky on Friday, an away game against the Washington Mystics on Sunday, and a season finale at home against the Minnesota Lynx.
