New Jersey Police Attacked During 100-Car Street Takeover

Chaos in Secaucus as Over 100 Vehicles Take Over Streets

On Sunday, more than a hundred vehicles were part of a chaotic street takeover in Secaucus, New Jersey, where police officers were targeted.

It all began around 2:30 AM at the intersection of Secaucus Road and County Avenue, with a driver performing donuts, according to reports. Video footage circulated online captured the sounds of police sirens as traffic stalled, with onlookers recording the unusual scene.

The situation escalated further when fireworks were set off near police officers. Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller described the atmosphere as resembling a “war zone,” according to News12 New Jersey.

Witnesses noted people leaning into car windows, and some even climbed into police vehicles during the frenzy. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries, and no arrests were made at the scene.

Miller remarked on the prudent decision of officers to remain in their vehicles to avoid attracting a crowd that could have been overwhelmingly large—around 50 people to one officer, he noted.

Police are actively searching for suspects involved in the incident and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

In a firm statement, Miller expressed his intolerance for the violence faced by officers, outlining plans to allocate resources from various divisions to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

Interestingly, it’s been reported that the fireworks may have actually set off a police vehicle. Additional footage showed significant tire marks at the site.

One local resident commented on the situation, saying, “I think it’s a disgrace. There’s no excuse for that.”
