A spokesperson for the committee stated that Bates is engaging in a “cover-up” regarding the president’s cognitive decline, suggesting he is being paranoid. They noted that Bates’ opening statement, leaked during a transcribed interview, echoed a narrative he has been attempting to sell to the public. The spokesperson asserted that the public can see Biden’s mental state for themselves.

Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is scrutinizing whether Biden’s decisions were signed using an autopen to obscure signs of potential cognitive decline. They are especially focused on particular orders signed later in Biden’s presidency, dismissing the investigation as merely politically motivated.
