Drama Surrounds Petition Against Rep. Corey Mills
The situation surrounding Rep. Corey Mills (R-FLA) has intensified since Lindsey Langston came forward with claims against him. At the recent hearings regarding a petition for restraining orders, Langston accused Mills of threatening violence and engaging in revenge pornography.
During her testimony in Columbia County Court on Friday morning, Langston expressed growing worries about Mills’ mental state after their three-year relationship. She detailed a troubling pattern of harassment following their breakup in February, where Mills continuously reached out, attempting to rekindle their relationship while issuing threats about increasing harm to her and others if she disagreed.
“I’m against this scary person. I don’t know what to do,” Langston stated during her testimony, visibly upset.
In previous statements, Langston said Mills even threatened suicide as a manipulation tactic, claiming he would harm himself if she did not return to him. Despite her apprehensions, she remained in contact with Mills, who mentioned having financial troubles in early spring. It wasn’t until late May that she began to cut off communication, blocking him on all channels, yet the messages persisted. Mills allegedly indicated he would harm her future partners and alluded to sharing explicit materials with the Miss America organization.
Among the messages presented as evidence were chilling comments, including warnings that any potential new relationship would come with serious implications, and an unsettling offer to send videos of Langston to a new partner.
- “You want to date someone else? Be my guest. But they need to know that we don’t care about any timeline; they will face consequences.”
- “If we cross paths, it won’t end well for anyone involved.”
- “I can send him some videos of you too.”
Langston also reported a June message from Mills that made her uneasy, thinking he might be tracking her. She asked Mills to leave her alone multiple times, expressing increasing fear over the escalating situation.
Facing growing tension and an escalation of threats, Langston testified crying, “I thought I could handle this, and I can’t. Please help me. Someone please help me.”
The hearing was lengthy, with Mills eventually taking the stand. He acknowledged past communication with Langston but defended his remarks as misguided attempts at humor influenced by their similar backgrounds. Mills even claimed the length of their last conversation was around June 12, but when pressed for more details, he seemed evasive.
Langston insisted that she was not seeing anyone new after her relationship with Mills, despite his insinuations to the contrary. Mills countered, suggesting that explicit videos Langston sent during their time together were not a threat, claiming he deleted them when Langston requested.
At one point in the session, Mills, still married to someone else, provided vague answers when questioned about his interactions with Langston. The proceedings included a series of interruptions, and ultimately, the hearing was postponed to a later date.
After speaking to law enforcement and the press, Langston noted that Mills had reached out multiple times, urging her to retract her story. The situation continues to evolve, with no follow-up hearings currently scheduled.
