A retired NYPD officer is openly discussing his ongoing battle against paranormal forces.
Chris DeFlorio, along with his ex-FDNY EMT wife, Harmony, has dedicated much of their post-police life to investigating demons and other supernatural threats worldwide. After 20 years on the force in Harlem, Chris, now 54, retired while Harmony, 49, stepped away from emergency medical services following a lupus diagnosis.
In the past four years, the couple claims to have explored nearly 1,000 cases pro bono.
However, they recently experienced the return of two alarming figures that first appeared to Chris in a dream six months ago.
“In 2019, I had this striking dream in which I was in a hotel room, faced with the devil. I felt powerless,” Chris recalled. “A young woman and a little girl, maybe six years old, laughed at me in this sinister way. The girl warned, ‘Do you know what happened to the last person who dared to do what you’re trying to do? He isn’t around anymore.’ They threatened that my family would be next if I continued down this path.”
In an effort to understand the darker aspects of their work, Chris has delved into various texts about demonology, including the writings of well-known exorcists.
Last year, Chris again dreamt of a mother and child, but the details were murky this time. “They warned me not to get too involved,” he said, recalling how those words resonated with him.
The following day, a distressed mother from Long Island reached out for help, claiming that her mirror had violently thrown a small person, injuring two toddlers in the process.
When the DeFlorios, who, in some ways, see themselves as a modern-day version of famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, arrived at the Long Island home, they felt an unsettling presence. “It was as if I could hear their whispers, echoing right in my ear,” Chris described. “A dark energy surrounded me as I called upon religious support.”
“In that moment, I could perceive the spirit in the room,” he added.
Since that incident, the house has been quiet, but Chris admits he’s had lingering warnings on his mind.
“I was deeply troubled about the family. It didn’t scare me, but, you know, I have grandchildren now, so I had to go home,” he mentioned, referring to their three-year-old twins.
“Even though more calls kept coming in, I found myself making excuses not to respond,” he said.
Now, the couple is gearing up to return to their work.
“We realized we’re meant to do this. I momentarily lost sight of the bigger picture,” Chris shared, reflecting on his thoughts during this time.
“We’re merely messengers in this, not the ones in control. It’s truly about faith and divine support helping people,” Harmony added.
With the release of “The Conjuring: Last Rites” this week, the couple feels it’s clear they cannot remain silent about their experiences.
