Tragic Loss for Marquette Men’s Lacrosse Team

On Friday night, two members of the Marquette men’s lacrosse team lost their lives in a car accident close to the university’s campus in Milwaukee.

The university has confirmed that the victims were Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud.

In a heartfelt statement on social media, University President Kimo a Yoon expressed, “Please keep Noah and Scott’s family—parents, siblings—in your thoughts and prayers. Their lives were tragically cut short. We feel the heartbreak alongside their teammates, coaches, and those who knew them.”

According to Milwaukee police, a 41-year-old driver collided with a vehicle carrying six individuals around 5 PM on Friday.

Both Snyder and Michaud were pronounced dead at the scene, while four other passengers in the vehicle sustained serious injuries.

Marquette’s athletic department noted that four teammates were also in the car when the accident occurred.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash, and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing potential charges.

Michaud, just 19, was a sophomore goalkeeper from Springboro, Ohio, while Snyder, aged 20, played offense and hailed from Irving, New York.

Interestingly, Snyder participated in the World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in Korea, where his team finished fourth.

A representative for the Haudeno Sauny Nationals commented, “Noah demonstrated his commitment to the sport, displaying a strong sense of responsibility for his team and respect for his legacy. His representation of our values was done with grace and dignity.”

Again, it was noted how both Snyder and Michaud were nominated last year for the Big East all-student team, each maintaining a GPA of at least 3.0.

In light of this tragedy, Marquette decided to cancel all home athletic events for the weekend as a mark of respect for the two young men.
