Jake Paul supports Shedeur Sanders as the Browns' quarterback for the next season

The Cleveland Browns have had a rough history, especially since their return in the late 90s, which hasn’t given fans much to celebrate. Recently, Jake Paul, a Cleveland native and avid Browns supporter, shared some mixed feelings about his loyalty. In a 2023 interview, he openly considered switching his allegiance to the Cincinnati Bengals after enduring “26 years of horror” with the Browns. Yet, in the end, Paul chose to stick with his hometown team.

“They always give up on me, but I don’t give up on them,” Paul remarked. “We’re still cheering for them. I’m still stubborn. I’m always cheering for them.” As the Browns gear up for their season opener against the Bengals, quarterback Joe Flacco is set to lead the team, but Paul seems to be rooting for a different choice.

“I think it should be Shedeur [Sanders]. Just because someone is the highest paid doesn’t mean they should start,” he said, advocating for the young quarterback. Sanders, who was projected to be a first-round pick, surprisingly fell to the fifth round and now finds himself behind another rookie, Dillon Gabriel, on the depth chart. Some say his inexperience might be holding him back, but Paul believes he has the potential to shine.

“If Shedeur can learn to step into his pocket, he should be the starting quarterback,” Paul stated, showing his confidence in the rookie’s abilities. Last season was tough for the Browns, ending with a 3-14 record largely due to Deshaun Watson’s injury, with his future status for this season uncertain. As the new season approaches, fans are left balancing hope and skepticism about what lies ahead.
