Mika Parsons Celebrates Successful Debut with Packers
Mika Parsons expressed his strong feelings about the reception he received during his first game as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
As he stepped onto the field for Sunday’s matchup against the Lions, which concluded with a 27-13 win for Green Bay, Parsons described the reactions from fans as “cold” but exhilarating.
After a notable criticism from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Parsons navigated a surprising trade from the Cowboys to the Packers.
“I can’t lie, it gave me chills. This environment—how the fans embraced me—it was amazing,” Parsons shared with CBS Sports. “This truly felt like a blessing in disguise. When Jordan Love said it would be great, I really couldn’t picture it being this incredible.”
Parsons reciprocated the support from fans with a standout performance against the Lions, pressuring quarterback Jared Goff multiple times and overcoming right tackle Peneichswell.
In a pivotal moment during the fourth quarter, he sacked Goff, eliciting excitement from former Cowboys teammate Trevon Diggs, who took to social media to express his astonishment.
“This is unreal. Wake me up from this dream,” Diggs commented on a video of the play.
Reflecting on his time in Dallas, Parsons described the atmosphere as “super draining” and “super toxic.”
“That’s not something I think any player should have to go through,” he remarked. “The fate of players should be determined sooner. Getting traded just a week before the season began was incredibly tough. It felt like my start stunted while these guys were improving.”
He added, “The people here have accepted me. They believe in my abilities and in me. I’m giving everything I have, so I know the commitment they made by bringing me here.”
