President Donald Trump was seen interacting with fans at the US Open, signing autographs before heading back to Washington, D.C. on Sunday night. He attended a match at Arthur Ash Stadium, where Carlos Alcaraz triumphed over Janik Sinner in four sets. A photo captured fans approaching Trump, requesting signatures on their hats, which he graciously provided for a few minutes.
Trump made his appearance just prior to the match’s start, waving to the audience from the Rolex Corporate Suite balcony. The crowd responded, cheering him on, to which Trump responded with a “thank you.” There was some mixed reception, though; while he was applauded during the national anthem, he also faced boos from spectators, particularly as the match progressed.
This marked Trump’s return to the Grand Slam event since his last visit in September 2015, just a few months after he announced his initial presidential campaign.
In the match, Alcaraz defeated Sinner with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Afterward, Trump was seen cheering for Alcaraz, who has secured multiple Grand Slam titles, including his first US Open win in 2022. Alcaraz also won the French Open earlier this year, though he faced challenges at Wimbledon and was eliminated in the Australian Open quarterfinals.
At just 22 years old, Alcaraz now has six Grand Slam titles to his name, making him a prominent figure in tennis, despite the Australian Open still eluding him.
