Six or more people dead in Jerusalem shooting

A shooting incident on Monday morning at a busy bus stop in Jerusalem has left at least six people killed or injured, as reported by Israeli police, local rescue services, and hospital sources.

The shooter, identified as Palestinian, was reportedly killed on the spot by both Israeli soldiers and civilians in the area.

According to police, the assailant opened fire on those waiting for buses during peak morning hours at a crowded intersection.

Emergency responders described a chaotic scene, with victims lying injured on a road covered in broken glass, and shattered bus windshields marked by bullet holes. Personal belongings were scattered across the vicinity.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the site two hours after the attack, promising to seek out those involved.

“We are engaged in a fierce war against terrorism on multiple fronts,” he stated.

Netanyahu added, “We are actively pursuing suspects and avoiding the villages associated with the attackers. We will apprehend their accomplices and take decisive actions.”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed sorrow over the “difficult and painful morning,” noting, “Innocent civilians—men, women, and children—were brutally killed or injured in cold blood by despicable terrorists.”

He commended those who acted heroically to prevent more loss of innocent life.

“This disturbing attack highlights the evil we are up against,” Herzog remarked. “The world needs to recognize what we’re fighting, and fear will not conquer us.”

Though Hamas did not officially claim responsibility, they called the incident “a natural response to the crimes of occupation against our people.”

This attack follows comments made by President Trump on Sunday, suggesting that a deal concerning Gaza might soon be reached.

Upon returning from a trip to New York, Trump noted, “We are working on a solution that could be very beneficial.” Meanwhile, his administration has faced criticism for plans regarding Gaza that many view as attempts to permanently displace Palestinians.
