Hakeem Jeffries Unites Your Favorite Democrats in New J6 Subcommittee

House Committee Focuses on January 6 Riots

On Monday, House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries announced the formation of a new subcommittee aimed at addressing the events of January 6, 2021. Among the key members is Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell from California, who takes on a prominent role.

The committee will include notable House Democrats such as Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Jamie Raskin of Maryland. Jeffries emphasized the need to ensure that Americans “never forget who was responsible” for the Capitol riots. He commended Swalwell as a “very skilled former prosecutor” who is adept at holding individuals accountable.

“Republicans are pushing back against this backdrop, and it’s great to have Rep. Eric Swalwell on board as a ranking member,” Jeffries stated. “I’m also pleased to welcome talented committee members Jasmine Crockett and Jared Moskowitz. Jamie Raskin stands out as a leading advocate of the Constitution and rule of law.”

Swalwell has been under scrutiny due to his past relationship with Christine Fang, a Chinese national suspected of engaging in espionage. Reports suggest that she helped fund Swalwell’s reelection campaign and placed an intern in his office. In 2015, the FBI alerted Swalwell about Fang’s potential ties to espionage, leading him to sever contact with her. Fang left the U.S. that same year, and the House Ethics Committee cleared Swalwell in May 2023.

Recently, Swalwell posted a peculiar video in which he feigned receiving a vaccine, sarcastically referencing the leadership of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at HHS.

Crockett, meanwhile, has made headlines for her controversial actions during congressional hearings. She notably clashed with Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, gaining attention for her remarks online. After devastating floods in Texas resulted in the deaths of 27 children, Crockett shared a lengthy Instagram video expressing her distress over being criticized by former President Donald Trump, even losing her temper with her hairdresser.

Reports indicate that some Texas lawmakers were apprehensive about Crockett’s temper, claiming she often treated staff poorly. Sources suggest she has focused more on building her personal brand than effectively serving her constituents.

Jeffries criticized House Republicans for what he called attempts to “whitewash the violence” that transpired during the riots years ago.
