Randy Fine Shares Strategy to Make Judges Responsible for Repeat Offenders

Representative Randy Fine from Florida has proposed a law aimed at holding judges responsible when violent repeat offenders go on to commit further crimes. This follows the tragic murder of Ukrainian refugees within the Charlotte, North Carolina, railway system.

“Our goal is to introduce legislation that makes judges accountable when violent offenders reoffend,” he stated on Sunday. “It’s one thing to release criminals when you’re shielded by armed officers; the rest of us don’t have that luxury.”

He added, “I believe at least 12 judges who decided to release DeCarlos Brown Jr. should also face justice.”

The comments came in light of the horrific murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Irina Zartoska, who was killed while using the Links Blue Line Light Rail System at the East/West Boulevard station on August 22.

As reported, DeCarlos Brown Jr. has an extensive criminal record, which includes felony theft, threatening communications, and robbery using dangerous weapons. His history of crime, notably the robbery charge, led to a five-year prison sentence. Previous arrests by Charlotte police included incidents of misusing 911.

Following the incident, he was arrested and charged with murder. The media’s response to the story has drawn criticism from many who feel it was largely overlooked.

In response to the tragedy, President Donald Trump expressed his condolences, stating, “We need to give love and hope to the family of the stabbed young woman… killed in Charlotte by a madman. It’s frightening to see how vulnerable we are; it’s a real blow.”
