Ed Sheeran Plans Move from UK to US
Ed Sheeran is gearing up for a significant change in his life. In recent conversations on the Two Johnny Podcasts, the singer-songwriter mentioned that he intends to relocate his family from the UK to the US, seeking a sense of “satisfaction.”
“I’m just about to move to America. Maybe I’m the only one moving to America,” he shared, reflecting on his upbringing in Framlingham and his current residence in Suffolk. “I’m going on tours for a while, so I have a family, so I can’t come and go. We’ll settle there,” he added, showing a blend of excitement and concern.
Earlier this year, Sheeran also expressed interest in country music. “When you move into the country, you can’t go back,” he said. He mentioned Nashville as his favorite city, emphasizing that settling there has always been a dream for him, shared with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, and their two young daughters.
In the past, he’s voiced his fondness for Nashville. “Nashville is full of really nice people,” he told Newsbeat during the Brit Awards in 2013.
On another note, Sheeran commented humorously on the local attitude towards celebrities, noting that people in Nashville don’t seem to care much. “They just turn out to be like, ‘Yes,’” he remarked, perhaps indicating the lifestyle he’s looking for.
Interestingly, not every celebrity feels the same way about the state. Some, like Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell, have opted to leave the US for other countries. DeGeneres moved to the UK after a tumultuous election cycle, citing her discomfort with the outcome. After the 2024 presidential election, she said the shift turned from a temporary stay into a commitment. “We came here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from friends along with crying emojis. I said, ‘He’s in,’” she shared about that pivotal moment.
Similarly, Rosie O’Donnell sought refuge in Ireland, a decision influenced by her longstanding opposition to Donald Trump.
