Three teams made significant impacts

The NFL’s first week brought some exciting matchups.

One game stood out, indicating that the AFC’s route to Super Bowl 60 might go through Buffalo. Meanwhile, it seems the Eagles’ biggest competition in the NFC might not be the Lions, as previously thought, but rather the Packers.

Jim Harbaugh had a fantastic weekend, as the Chargers appear ready to challenge the Chiefs’ streak of nine consecutive AFC West titles.

On the flip side, John Harbaugh had a rough weekend. The Ravens faced a challenging playoff exit, proving they can indeed take on tough opponents on the road.

It’s certainly interesting to consider what transpired over the weekend.

Here’s a look at the NFL power rankings after Week 1.

1. Bills (1-0)

Josh Allen’s brilliance led to a dramatic comeback, scoring three times in the last four minutes and sealing a 41-40 win against the Ravens.

Matt Prater kicked a 32-yard field goal in overtime to seal the deal.

Allen racked up an impressive 424 total yards and four touchdowns. Key defensive moments, like Ed Oliver’s forced fumble, were crucial in that final quarter.

2. Eagles (1-0)

Continuing from last season, the Eagles’ dominant rushing attack amassed 158 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-20 victory over the Cowboys.

The defense, under coordinator Vic Fangio, completely shut out the opposition in the second half, including a pivotal fumble recovery.

3. Packers (1-0)

This week, Jordan Love threw two touchdown passes, leading the Packers to a notable 27-13 win against the previously strong Lions.

Impressively, the Packers didn’t allow the Lions to score until the last minute.

4. Ravens (0-1)

In a tight spot, John Harbaugh faced criticism for punting on fourth down while holding a two-point lead with just over a minute left. Lamar Jackson’s efforts, including three touchdowns, were in vain due to a late-game fumble by Derrick Henry.

5. Chargers (1-0)

Justin Herbert shined brightly this week, throwing for 318 yards and three touchdowns, leading to a 27-21 victory over the Chiefs. His runs also helped close out critical plays.

Quentin Johnston caught two touchdown passes, while Keenan Allen made a strong return.

6. Chiefs (0-1)

Let’s not forget the overreactions that often follow Week 1 losses.

Yes, the Chiefs lost to the Lions, but they recovered from a similar start last season to win the Super Bowl.

Still, Xavier’s injury adds to their troubles, and they struggled in the running game.

7. Lions (0-1)

This game didn’t showcase the Lions’ infamous offense, as Jared Goff managed only 225 yards. The running back duo of Gibbs and Montgomery combined for just 44 yards.

Clearly, the absence of Pro Bowl Center Frank Ragnow and a change in offensive coaching didn’t help.

8. Commanders (1-0)

New addition Devo Samuel shined alongside Terry McLaurin, contributing 77 yards and a rushing touchdown to a 21-6 win against the Giants.

Quarterback Jaden Daniels had a solid performance with 233 yards and a touchdown.

9. Broncos (1-0)

The defense came through when it mattered, making crucial stops that helped the Broncos win 20-12 against the Titans.

JK Dobbins’ 19-yard touchdown run added to their success.

10. Buccaneers (1-0)

Emeka Egbuka had a standout NFL debut, catching two touchdown passes, including the game-winner in the closing moments against the Falcons.

Despite missing a potential game-winning field goal, Baker Mayfield managed to get three crucial touchdown completions.

11. Rams (1-0)

12. Bengals (1-0)

13. 49ers (1-0)

14. Cowboys (0-1)

15. Steelers (1-0)

16. Colts (1-0)

17. Vikings (1-0)

18. Falcons (0-1)

19. Raiders (1-0)

20. Texans (0-1)

21. Cardinals (1-0)

22. Jaguars (1-0)

23. Bears (0-1)

24. Seahawks (0-1)

25. Patriots (0-1)

26. Jets (0-1)

It was quite a surprise to see how things unfolded.

The Jets, with head coach Aaron Glenn, faced tough challenges even as Justin Fields showcased his potential. Despite great performances, the outcome left fans wanting more.

27. Browns (0-1)

28. Giants (0-1)

After significant investments in free agency, the Giants are still stuck in a rut, failing to score in this season’s opener.

It was a dismal weekend, and the pressure seems to be mounting on Russell Wilson.

29. Titans (0-1)

30. Panthers (0-1)

31. Dolphins (0-1)

32. Saints (0-1)
