It seems that the Yankees’ shortstop, Anthony Volpe, might be stepping out of the dating scene – or perhaps he’s just entered it.
Struggling a bit this season with both batting and fielding, the 24-year-old attended the Willow Gala, a silent auction hosted by the Carlos Rodon Foundation, held in Greenwich, Connecticut. Why is that notable? Well, he brought someone along.
Volpe was spotted with a date, Elle Jowett, known on social media as The Punning Blonde. They posed for photos alongside Rodon and his wife, Ashley, later taking a few more at Delamar Greenwich Harbor, the venue for the event.
This auction aims to support couples dealing with infertility and pregnancy loss, a cause close to the Rodons, who started a nonprofit after their own challenging IVF experiences. Quite heartfelt, really.
As for Volpe and Jowett, they haven’t publicly discussed their relationship yet, leaving a bit of intrigue lingering in the air.
I mean, not much is known about Jowett either. In a TikTok interview from December 2023, she mentioned she’s a student and had just moved from Maine to New York City about three months prior.
Elle seems to be gaining traction on Instagram too, boasting a blue check and nearly 16,000 followers. Who knows? That number might just climb after she was seen with Volpe.
There were some subtle hints of their connection on social media, with Yankees players, including Rodon and Chase Carter (who is married to center fielder Cody Bellinger), leaving comments on Jowett’s posts.
Interestingly, in June, she also shared a TikTok from the Yankees-Red Sox series at Fenway Park. And, of course, they follow each other on Instagram.
I reached out to Jowett for a comment but haven’t heard back yet.
As for Volpe’s performance, he’s had a challenging season, hitting .207 with 19 home runs and 70 RBIs, while also leading the American League with 19 errors. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for him, to say the least.
