Apple Unveils New iPhone Lineup
Jason Landz, host of the Seattle Red Talk Show, is expressing anticipation that President Donald Trump might reveal $100 million in manufacturing investments during an announcement tied to Apple’s latest investment deal.
On Tuesday, Apple held a significant event where it unveiled a new series of iPhones, notably showcasing a model dubbed the iPhone Air. This new device is expected to sit between the more affordable iPhone 17 and the premium iPhone 17 Pro models.
The iPhone Air, touted as the thinnest iPhone yet at just 5.6mm thick and featuring a 6.5-inch display, is designed with enhanced durability. According to Apple, it sports a titanium frame and is covered with a new ceramic shield on both sides. This design aims to make it the most robust iPhone released to date.
Additionally, the device is powered by a new CPU that promises improved speed and efficiency compared to older models. There’s also a second-generation GPU included, which is intended to support AI computing—similar to what one might find in a MacBook—by using neural accelerators in each GPU core.
The White House has indicated that Apple plans to officially announce its $100 million investment commitment for manufacturing in the U.S.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, mentioned that the iPhone Air’s launch represents a significant leap forward for the performance of the company’s iPhone 17 Pro, characterizing it as “the most advanced iPhone ever.”
Interestingly, analysts from Reuters have suggested that the iPhone Air might pave the way for foldable devices, similar to offerings from Samsung. Just recently, Google also unveiled its own folding smartphone.
It’s worth noting that the new iPhone doesn’t include any major updates to Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, which has left some observers curious about its future.
Apple recently formed a partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, to enhance AI features within its operating system. Analysts are watching closely to see if Apple will expand its AI collaborations ahead of a possible updated version of Siri.
This story is still developing—stay tuned for further updates.
