Fatal Hit-and-Run Leads to Arrest of Immigrants in Florida

A tragic hit-and-run incident at a trailer park in Florida took an unexpected turn when police discovered several undocumented Guatemalan immigrants during their investigation. This all began over the weekend when authorities were called to Willow Oak Mobile Home Park following the death of a 21-year-old man early Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, deputies found the man’s injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. It was later revealed that he had been attending a party at the trailer park, where many guests had been drinking.

Witnesses recounted how the victim was lying in the driveway when a 52-year-old, identified as Ponia Sint Ramirez, got into a parked van, backed it up, and hit him. Despite warnings from party-goers, Sint Ramirez fled the scene, driving into a nearby trailer.

Interestingly, while investigating, deputies approached the trailer at lot #32 and encountered several individuals inside who were reluctant to talk. It was reported that when they did come out, they initially provided false identities.

After further questioning, the deputies discovered that all six men present were illegally residing in the U.S., resulting in multiple charges being pressed against them.

Cinto-Ramirez faces serious charges, including resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Others, such as Ligoberto Lopez Morales and Jacinto Lopez Morales, also faced charges related to resisting arrest.

The sheriff’s office stated that these men were now facing significant legal consequences and were being processed for potential deportation back to Guatemala.

As Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd summarized, what began as a neighborhood party sadly turned into a far more complicated situation involving a young man’s death and a group of undocumented immigrants facing serious repercussions.

Moreover, police had noted previous complaints regarding large gatherings at Willow Oak Mobile Home Park, but it remains unclear if this particular event had drawn prior attention.
