President Trump shared that Kirk was shot while speaking at a lecture event at Utah Valley University, where videos showed him addressing a large crowd beneath a pop-up tent.
Kai, who referred to Kirk as “a close family friend,” took to Instagram to voice her sadness. “I’m deeply saddened to hear the news about Charlie Kirk,” she posted. “My heart is directed at his wife Erica and their two children. He is a close family friend, and our thoughts and prayers are with them in this tragic time.”
President Trump’s announcement came via social media at around 4:40 PM. He stated that “Even the great and legendary, Charlie Kirk is dead,” adding that nobody understood the concerns of America’s youth better than Kirk did.

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow shared on X, “I’m shocked and devastated to learn about Charlie Kirk’s passing.” Brett Favre also expressed his confusion and sorrow, encouraging followers to keep Kirk and his family in their prayers.
Kirk had been participating in the “American Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University and was slated to speak at Utah State University later in the month. The university reported that the incident occurred around 12:20 PM local time.
