An “emotional support teacher” from a Pennsylvania public school has drawn attention for her controversial remarks that seem to normalize “Trumpism.” She also shared a post describing Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist recently killed, as a “white nationalist mouthpiece” unworthy of “empathy” following his assassination at the University of Utah.
Libs of TikTok highlighted a troubling statement from Amanda Dodson, who works for the Lancaster School District, which was reposted on Facebook.
“Charlie Kirk was a voice for racist, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, sexist, and white nationalist views, making a fortune by stirring up hatred in this country,” her post declared. The post originated from a far-left page named “So Informed.”
Dodson continued, “Whether through his denial of genocide, transphobic tirades, massive deportation pushes, or ongoing support for Trumpism, he stood for nothing but hate. My empathy in this case is reserved for his children.”
She expressed hopes that those children might grow up in a country that opposes their father’s vision and takes gun violence seriously, rejecting those who defend pointless gun-related deaths.
Dodson labeled herself an “emotional support teacher” on her Facebook page and in her LinkedIn profile. In fact, emotional support teachers work specifically with students facing behavioral challenges.
According to screenshots from Libs of TikTok’s district directory, Dodson is based at Reynolds Middle School, though the district hasn’t responded to the backlash stemming from her comments.
Kirk was shot and killed in front of a group of Utah Valley University students. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that suspects were in custody the same day, but those individuals were released after questioning.
Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, expressed their grief over the loss in a somber statement shared on social media.
President Donald Trump ordered that the US flag be flown at half-mast and condemned the violence in a video message.
Both former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama also released statements addressing the tragic event.
Biden stated on X, “There is no place for this kind of violence in our country. It must end now. Jill and I pray for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”
Obama added, “We don’t know the motives behind the person who took Charlie Kirk’s life, but this kind of senseless violence is unacceptable in our democracy. Michelle and I are especially praying for his wife, Erica, and their two young children.”
