Jerry O’Connell was trying to find some peace, but that didn’t quite work out for him.
The 51-year-old host of the game show “Pictionary” reported that an unknown woman made off with his belongings during a yoga class in Los Angeles.
O’Connell described the thief as a “yoga bandit,” explaining that he had hidden his phone and wallet inside his shoes at the studio before the class began.
Apparently, the woman had requested to use the restroom in the studio, but it turned out she was lying about being late for class.
After the session ended, O’Connell discovered his items, including cash, were gone.
“Honestly, I wore those same old sneakers to class—I’ve done this more than a hundred times. I just assumed everything would be okay,” he said.
Feeling frustrated, he noted, “It doesn’t make sense; the door was locked.” Still, he tried to keep his cool, mentioning to the staff that he thought a yoga studio would be a safe place for his things.
According to NBC, police took a report about the theft, and they found that the incident was captured on security footage.
He mentioned, “We checked the video and recognized her. She had pigtails, was dressed in yoga clothes, and carried a yoga mat.”
As O’Connell recounted, “You can see her saying, ‘Oh, I’m late for class.'”
The woman reportedly racked up nearly $500 in charges at a department store and $100 at a gas station almost immediately after taking his items.
It seems this isn’t the first time she’s stolen from yoga studios.
“When I went to the police station, I found out she had a past—previously hitting another yoga studio and had been reported multiple times,” he shared.
O’Connell expressed his disappointment over losing personal items like a photo of his high school friend Rebecca, a $2 bill from filming “Stand By Me,” and his grandfather’s obituary.
He also mentioned he kept a Powerball lottery ticket in his wallet.
“So, if my gas station ticket wins, it could be due to a yoga bandit,” he joked.
On a lighter note, he said, “I have an Android, so at least it wouldn’t be worth much resale.”
Despite the theft, he returned to the yoga studio for another session. “I went back today for class,” he mentioned. “The teacher even joked about how I could get my toes to touch, so it all turned out okay in the end.”
