DC Comics Cancels Gretchen Felker-Martin’s Red Hood Series
DC Comics has decided to cancel Gretchen Felker-Martin’s comic series, Red Hood, following her remarks celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA.
On September 10, the company issued a statement announcing the cancellation of existing orders for Red Hood #2 and #3, as well as any future issues in the series. They stated that retailers would be credited for copies of Red Hood #1, even those already available for sale.
When asked about Felker-Martin’s comments, DC Comics did not mention her explicitly but referenced their “code of conduct.” They emphasized their commitment to promoting peaceful discourse and noted that any posts or comments encouraging violence are against their standards.
Felker-Martin reportedly expressed gladness over Kirk’s death on her Bluesky account, making a controversial post that included a message such as, “Thoughts and prayers of your Nazi bitch,” which was later followed up with a comment like, “After touching Charlie Kirk, the bullet is fine.”
While this post was eventually removed by Bluesky, some users managed to capture screenshots before it was taken down.
Interestingly, the reaction to Kirk’s assassination was widespread enough that Bluesky’s official account had to issue warnings to users promoting violence.
According to Bluesky, “Glorious violence and harm violate our community guidelines. We act on any content that poses harm.”
Kirk was shot during a question-and-answer segment at an event at Utah Valley University, and he was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
