Angel Reese Critiques Chicago Sky’s Performance
Angel Reese has recently spoken out about the Chicago Sky’s roster, expressing her frustrations after a disappointing season. The two-time All-Star made it clear that if the team’s performance doesn’t improve, she might have to “move in a different direction” for her own career growth.
Reese emphasized, “I’m not settling for the same situation we had this year. We need to get better players. We need great players, and that’s non-negotiable for me.”
Her comments came after a tough match where the team faced challenges. Reese’s remarks, however, led to some backlash, particularly from Sophie Cunningham, who deemed the comments “harmful to the team.” Shortly after the game, Cunningham reflected on the frustration felt throughout the organization, saying, “Her teammates feel it, her coach feels it, the organization, the fans, everyone feels it,” while urging Reese to be mindful of her words in the media.
It’s been a season filled with tensions and candid moments. According to Reese, who also values her role as a team player, there are unspoken rules about what should remain private. “I stand by my team, and I understand that expressing frustrations in public can backfire,” she noted after later apologizing for her comments following a victory against the Connecticut Sun.
Currently, Reese is averaging 14.7 points per game and leading the league with 12.6 rebounds, despite the Sky’s overall struggles, reflected in their 10-33 record this season.
As the season progresses, it remains to be seen how the dynamics within the team will evolve and whether Reese’s words will lead to the much-needed changes to uplift the Chicago Sky’s performance.
