Pastor honors Charlie Kirk as a ‘hero’ of faith following his assassination

Remembering Charlie Kirk

For Rev. David Engelhardt, Charlie Kirk was much more than a prominent public figure; he was a friend and a source of inspiration, both in faith and in life.

Engelhardt reflected, “Charlie was a remarkably strong man. His name actually represents a strong church, and I often told him, ‘You’re empowering churches across the nation.'” This tribute comes in the wake of the conservative activist’s tragic death on Thursday.

He noted Kirk’s unwavering commitment to his beliefs, stating that he was never hesitant about expressing his faith, even when it might have upset others. “He showed great courage. He was strong in his beliefs but never mean-spirited toward those with different views,” Engelhardt added.

Charlie Kirk’s Impact on Faith and Freedom

The two first crossed paths back in 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kirk urged Engelhardt to reopen his church, which he claims was the first in New York to do so. Kirk, according to Engelhardt, motivated many pastors to stand up for truth and freedom.

Now, following the shocking news of Kirk’s assassination on the University of Utah campus, Engelhardt mourns alongside those close to Kirk. “We’re in short supply of heroes these days; Charlie was certainly a brave one. He was both a leader and a truth-teller,” he remarked.

This bravery, Engelhardt suggests, leaves a lasting legacy: “It’s the remarkable outcome, I believe, of the inspiration that Kirk provided, impacting countless young lives through Turning Point USA.”

The news of Kirk’s death has stirred a mix of sorrow and anger among many, prompting expressions of sympathy from across the community. Shortly after, authorities shared images of individuals of interest connected to the incident.
