Teacher Fired for Saying, 'America Became Greater' After Kirk's Murder

A social studies teacher at Southside High School in Greenville, South Carolina, was let go after posting that “America has grown” following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.

“He’s in my thoughts and prayers for his children, but honestly, I think America is bigger,” Wynne Boliek wrote in a Facebook post after Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University during what appears to be a political assassination.

Screenshots of Boliek’s post circulated on social media, gaining attention from South Carolina representatives Nancy Mace and William Timmons.

“Greenville County Schools, you might want to reconsider your hiring practices,” Mace commented on X, asserting that “people celebrating the loss of human life shouldn’t be anywhere near children.”

Timmons echoed these sentiments, stating, “A public school teacher in my district is openly celebrating the horrific murder of Charlie Kirk. This is cruel, hateful, and dangerous.”

“Those who praise political violence should not be allowed around students. He should be let go immediately,” Timmons added.

Meanwhile, Greenville County School District later confirmed to Fox Carolina that Boliek was no longer employed, noting that they had completed their investigation into the matter.

“We have confirmed that Mr. Boliek wrote an inappropriate message, and he is no longer with Greenville County Schools,” the district stated.

“We strongly condemn the messages shared by former employees as they do not reflect the standards we expect from our staff,” they added. “We are dedicated to upholding professionalism and respect for our students, families, colleagues, and the broader community.”

On Thursday morning, the FBI’s Salt Lake City office released images of “persons of interest” related to Kirk’s assassination, requesting public assistance.
