Celebrity Reactions After Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, which occurred during a speech in Orem, Utah, there’s a growing call for change among celebrities from both sides of the political spectrum. Kirk, recognized as a prominent conservative activist, was fatally shot, prompting notable figures in Hollywood to express their outrage and sorrow.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California, has been vocally critical of his party lately. Following the tragedy, he took to social media, urging the public to unite. He remarked, “My heart is with Charlie Kirk’s family and America,” highlighting the severity of political violence, stating that it’s a disease that requires a collective healing approach. Schwarzenegger expressed hope for rediscovering humanity amidst such horror.

Similarly, actor Josh Duhamel shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, where he posted a photo of Kirk with his wife and children. He wrote, “Rip Charlie Kirk. Remember, regardless of your political beliefs, this man had a wife and two beautiful children who no longer had him. Pray to stop this insanity.”

Fitness expert Jillian Michaels, while identifying as more centrist, also voiced strong sentiments against the current culture of hate. She emphasized the need to combat the rising hatred: “If we succumb to this rage… we will not only lose our lives, but we will lose our humanity.” Her call to action urged for a collective effort to curtail violence in all forms.

Actress Melissa Gilbert voiced her dissent regarding Kirk’s views but asserted his right to speak freely without fear of violence. She remarked that while she disagreed with him, embracing open dialogue should never come with the threat of being harmed.

Maria Shriver, closely related to Schwarzenegger, echoed similar sentiments. She decried political violence while lamenting the loss of Kirk’s young life and its implications for families nationwide, urging people across the political spectrum to take a stand against such acts.

Rosie O’Donnell, known for her outspoken nature, condemned the assassination as a mistake on all fronts. She used social media to express that murder is unacceptable, regardless of the circumstances.

In a heartfelt Instagram story, singer Jana Kramer shared her prayers for Kirk’s family while also calling out the violence that led to his death. She noted that differing opinions should never lead to such tragic outcomes.

Following these reactions, police arrested Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old, in connection to Kirk’s murder. He faces severe charges, including murder and firearm offenses, and has been ordered to be held without bail while further proceedings are set for next week.
