Bill Maher Urges Caution Against Comparing Trump to Hitler
On Friday, Bill Maher, host of “Real Time,” cautioned against comparisons between President Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler, especially in light of the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Maher expressed concern that such comparisons could lead to justifications for violent actions.
He referenced a recent incident where Trump was dining at Joe’s Seafood and another establishment in Washington, D.C., when left-wing protesters labeled him “the Hitler of our time.” Maher remarked, “This needs to stop. He went out for dinner – I personally wouldn’t have, but people started chanting ‘You’re Hitler of our time.’”
Maher warned that inflammatory language against Trump could further incite political violence. He stated clearly, “He’s not Hitler; it’s an insult to Holocaust victims. Let’s be real.” Kirk, who was just 31 and a father of two, was tragically shot at a campus event at Utah Valley University.
Kirk was struck in the neck while speaking to a crowd underneath a pop-up tent and was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Authorities have named 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect, and he was taken into custody on Friday.
Maher earlier discussed the troubling elements surrounding corrupting rhetoric in politics, mentioning a bullet casing found that had a message inscribed. He noted, “It’s a new twist; assassins do write on bullets, and this isn’t the first time.”
Investigators revealed that the bullet casing carried an anti-fascist message, hinting at potential motives for Robinson’s actions. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that authorities found this inscription on a bolt-action rifle near the site of Kirk’s assassination. Cox elaborated that the recovered ammunition included both used and unused casings, with messages like “Hey fascist, catch!” and references to Italy’s anti-fascist movements under Mussolini’s rule.
