George Takei Incorrectly States Charlie Kirk's Assassination 'Seems to Be Right on Right Violence'

Star Trek Actor Spreads Misinformation About Charlie Kirk Incident

George Takei, known from Star Trek, has shared misleading information suggesting that the individual involved in the recent attack on Charlie Kirk was driven by right-wing ideology. In a post on Friday evening, Takei stated, “Kirk’s murder looks like right violence,” shortly after officials disclosed that the ammunition used was marked with anti-fascist slogans. A friend of the suspect mentioned that the 22-year-old had progressive views.

This false narrative has reportedly gained traction within certain online circles, with various posts lacking evidence. Some have labeled the suspect a follower of right-wing ideologies, which has led to further spreading of misinformation across platforms like Reddit.

Takei’s followers seem to embrace these inaccuracies, with one user commenting, “They eat themselves,” suggesting a sort of mutual downfall among conflicting groups. Another post remarked that conservatives would ultimately turn against each other, prompting a user to suggest that evangelicals pose a greater risk than other groups.

Other notable figures, including Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie, and actor John Cusack, have also circulated misleading claims related to this incident.

In comments on social media, Baldwin remarked, “It’s not black,” hinting at the complexities surrounding the case. When news broke about the shooting on Wednesday, Takei wasted no time in politicizing the situation, expressing hopes for Kirk’s recovery while advocating for stricter firearm regulations.

Authorities have cited that the suspect was heard chanting slogans, including “Hey Fascist! Catch!” and references to the well-known Italian song “Bella Ciao,” a song with historical ties to anti-fascist movements.

Commentators have noted that many on the left label Kirk with extreme terms like “fascist” and “white supremacist,” showing little sign of reconsideration in the wake of this violent act. There appears to be a troubling trend of some celebrating the demise of political rivals in an increasingly charged public discourse.
