Trump Identifies Alleged Assassin in Charlie Kirk Case

On Saturday, former President Trump announced the identification of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of attempting to assassinate conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump commended FBI Director Kash Patel for the swift capture of the suspect.

Robinson has been detained in his hometown of Washington, Utah, following an extensive manhunt sparked by grainy images of the suspect. “I’m extremely proud of the FBI,” Trump stated in a conversation with Fox News Digital. “Kash and everyone else have done a remarkable job.”

Details of Robinson’s Arrest

New information shared with Fox News Digital offers insights into the timeline surrounding Robinson’s identification and arrest—highlighting the unique involvement of Patel throughout the investigation.

The FBI reported that Robinson was on campus at the time of the attack on September 10th. Kirk was shot just after 11:52 a.m., having scouted the area from 8:28 a.m. to 9:34 a.m. It was during this time that Robinson reportedly climbed the stairs of the Ross building and took a position on the roof by 12:22 p.m. He is said to have fired at Kirk a minute later.

Authorities state that after the incident, Robinson fell from the roof and fled to a wooded area nearby, where a gun was later found. The local FBI was alerted almost immediately, and Patel arrived on the scene around 5:30 p.m. on September 11th.

Investigation and Evidence Collection

Patel walked the crime scene, retracing the route taken by the suspect. According to sources familiar with the case, he meticulously examined each step Robinson took and directed agents to gather evidence efficiently.

Patel was actively involved in ensuring that evidence was collected and expedited to the appropriate labs for analysis. Typically, evidence is shipped once collected, but Patel specifically requested that the fingerprints and other materials be transported by plane to Quantico for swift processing. This unusual move, as noted by sources, contributed to the rapid turnaround of forensic results.

“The DNA was being analyzed overnight because the director was there leading all of this,” a source mentioned. “He oversaw everyone and demanded immediate evidence collection.” It seems this prompt action helped facilitate Robinson’s quick capture.

A law enforcement source divulged that Robinson’s father ultimately turned him in after recognizing him in the released video footage. It’s a complex web of events, showcasing both the urgency of law enforcement and the personal dilemmas faced by the suspect’s family.
