Whoopi Goldberg Criticizes Democrats on “The View”
On a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg openly criticized Democrats for their handling of issues surrounding former Vice President Kamala Harris. She remarked that they tend to keep quiet about Harris’s struggles, implying that a lack of support from within the party is evident.
“People might have felt more at ease if Democrats had been more transparent and kept some of their grievances behind closed doors instead of airing them publicly,” Goldberg expressed. This was in response to a discussion regarding President Biden’s decision to run for re-election, as detailed in an article from The Atlantic this week.
Goldberg noted, “People frequently say we should have run a better campaign, but the question remains whether they truly want to hear what that entails.” Her comments highlighted a growing dissatisfaction among some party members regarding campaign strategies.
Co-host Joy Behar also chimed in, addressing the issue of sexism, stating that women often face challenges in gaining electoral support. This brought additional tension to the conversation. Another co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, expressed her disagreement with Goldberg. She emphasized that a political party shouldn’t dictate who should run or hold office. “With an incumbent president, primaries shouldn’t obstruct the existing administration,” Griffin noted, pointing to the fact that a significant portion of voters still supported Biden’s presidency, despite concerns about his age.
Hostin supported Harris’s concerns, arguing that the stakes surrounding Biden’s re-election bid are particularly high given the current political climate. “Just look at what’s happening in our country right now,” she said.
In her new book, Harris criticized the communication strategies of Biden’s team, suggesting that they failed to bolster her efforts to push back against negative narratives surrounding her. “Despite having an extensive communications team, it was extremely challenging to defend my position or highlight achievements,” she wrote.
