Prince Harry Discusses Memoir “Spare”
Prince Harry has asserted that his 2023 memoir “Spare” was not intended for “vengeance” or to air “dirty laundry,” emphasizing that he feels his “conscience is clear” despite any disruptions caused within the royal family.
He mentioned, “It was a series of revisions to the story already there,” explaining that it was necessary to provide a different perspective. In a recent interview, Harry, who celebrated his 41st birthday on Monday, remarked, “It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible.” He underscored that the narrative isn’t about revenge but rather about accountability.
Harry’s candid remarks came shortly after he met with his father, King Charles, for the first time in 19 months. This meeting was brief, lasting less than an hour, and it occurred in the context of Harry’s visit to Ukraine to support veterans and soldiers.
Interestingly, Harry’s time in the UK did not include a meeting with his brother, Prince William. This absence is particularly striking given that the memoir details a past incident where William reportedly lost his temper and assaulted Harry.
According to Harry’s account, the confrontation included William grabbing him by the collar, breaking a necklace, and knocking him to the ground. The memoir also includes claims that King Charles frequently prioritized William’s interests over Harry’s and was envious of both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Nonetheless, Harry remains resolute about his choices, stating, “I don’t think I aired dirty laundry publicly.” It’s worth noting that during their meeting, King Charles reportedly expressed a desire for reconciliation and asked his sons not to make his final year “miserable,” as per reports.
