Warren shines as Yankees lose key opportunity to sweep Red Sox

Yankees Fall to Red Sox Despite Late Rally

Boston – Well, it wasn’t meant to be for the Yankees this time.

After Jazz Chisholm Jr. hinted that the Yankees had a chance to extend their lead, they instead found themselves in a tough spot, losing 6-4 to the Red Sox on Sunday night. It was a disappointing finish to their weekend.

Will Warren struggled right from the start, giving up six runs in the first inning. Meanwhile, Garrett Crochet put in a solid performance, allowing just two runs over six innings, which helped the Red Sox (82-68) secure their victory and inch closer to the Yankees (83-66) in the race for the AL Wild Card.

The Yankees now fall four games behind the Blue Jays in the AL East. Things aren’t looking great for their division hopes, especially since the Blue Jays have the tiebreaker. They need to rally, and fast.

Sunday marked the end of a grueling stretch of 12 games against competitive teams, where the Yankees managed a record of 7-5. A bit of a mixed bag, but certainly not what they were hoping for.

As for the game, the Yankees at least made it interesting after being down 6-0. Thanks to a two-run homer, they made some noise against Crochet, pulling the game closer. Aaron Judge, meanwhile, launched his 48th home run in the fifth inning. It was his fifth homer in just six games, showing he’s finding his groove.

In the seventh, Jose Caballero made things exciting with a long shot, pulling the Yankees to 6-4. When Judge got a single in the eighth, it felt like there was a chance for a comeback. However, Garrett Whitlock, a former Yankee, managed to squash that threat by striking out the next three batters.

Warren’s struggle began quickly with a fly ball from Jarren Duran that led to a triple in front of the Green Monster. The Red Sox steadily built a lead with singles and a sacrifice fly, pushing it to 5-0.

To wrap things up, Carlos Narváez, a former Yankee, blasted a solo home run that put the Red Sox up 6-0. This was another rough outing for Warren, who had previously allowed similar numbers in earlier games this season. It’s becoming a concerning trend.

Despite his rocky start, Warren did manage to settle down afterwards, pitching five innings and saving the bullpen’s strength amidst a challenging stretch of games.
