Jemele Hill Calls Out Charlie Kirk’s Legacy
Former ESPN commentator Jemele Hill has labeled conservative activist Charlie Kirk a white supremacist. Her remarks came during a special live episode of her podcast spolitis last Friday, where she expressed her frustrations regarding how Kirk is perceived politically.
“I’m really tired of white supremacist beliefs being treated like just differing opinions,” she asserted. “It’s infuriating to see people honor Charlie Kirk as if his views are just part of a discussion. There are differences, and then there are outright harmful beliefs.”
Hill further emphasized, “You shouldn’t receive the same treatment based on your race.” It’s striking, really.
Charlie Kirk, who was 31, was shot while attending a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. He leaves behind his wife and two children, and President Donald Trump offered his condolences upon learning of his death.
Trump stated, “The great and legendary Charlie Kirk is gone. Nobody understood and connected with the youth of America quite like him. He was there for everyone, especially me, and now he’s no longer with us. Melania and I send our heartfelt sympathies to his wonderful wife, Erica, and we love you, Charlie!”
Democratic leaders have described Kirk’s assassination as an act of senseless political violence.
“Let’s be clear. You may disagree with someone’s beliefs, but that should never lead to violence,” one leader said. “Political violence, whatever form it takes, is unacceptable in America. However, as I noted when my close friends Melissa and Mark Hortman were killed this summer, such incidents have alarmingly become too frequent.”
